- During military separations (whether short or long) how do you keep yourself positive and motivated? submitted by Married/Single Parent When I start feeling down in the dumps, I try to remind myself of all the good in my life. Even just little things like the sun is shining or hearing my child’s laughter. Sometimes it takes a lot more effort than others, and staying positive didn’t come naturally to me. I had to learn how to deal with emotions that came with separations.
- What is your favorite concert you have ever been to? submitted by Young but Not (Completely) Dumb Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood! They put on a great show!
- What do you miss most about your “hometown”? submitted by A Florida Girl and Her Soldier Having my family and friends close by. All the good restaurants. The familiarity of it. Being able to read and understand all of the signs.
- If you could run in any race, which charity would you choose to support? submitted by Wookie & Co. One that didn’t involve running… I hate running. It come be a horse race though. That would be fun. And it would be a charity that helped abuse children or animals.
- You find out Willy Wonka is your father, what 3 course meal do you INSIST he create in that stick of gum? submitted by A{muse}ing Mommy on a Pink Park Bench Having any meal flavored gum sounds absolutely disgusting to me, but to play along – salad and breadsticks from Olive Garden, followed by some cheesy/garlicy pasta, followed by chocolate chip cookies. My favorite!

People who have never left their hometown have no idea how good it feels to be comfortable/familiar with a place. To know where to go without thinking about it, to not get lost, etc. I love that when I go home.
I think you learn a little bit more about coping with each deployment. I'm not saying it gets easier, just easier to adjust...if that makes sense!
I am SO jealous!!!!!! Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley?!?!?!?!
I feel the same way about the gym. YUCK
