Rocky Mountain National Park

We drove up to Rocky Mountain National Park yesterday and took a stroll around Bear Lake.  This park is a photographers paradise, for sure.  I took over 900 pictures yesterday alone, and this blog is just a few of my favorites.  All of these pictures were taken with my Canon 60D and an 18-135mm lens with a polarizing filter.  None of them have been edited in any way.

This was Abbie’s camera.  She saw me taking a zillion pictures out the window so she wanted to take pictures too.

One of the big highlights of this trip was that we saw 3 bears on the side of the road!  There were a bunch of cars stopped and we wondered what they were looking at.  My mom saw the bears so I jumped out of the car and ran across traffic to get a few pictures.  Really neat!!

Abbie loved the chipmunks by Bear Lake and apparently they really liked her too!  I LOVE these pictures of her and I’ll have Mark edit them when we’re all home.

I think this is one of my favorite shots of the day.  I climbed down a rock to be right by the lake and I love the grassy stuff in the lake and the blue sky.  LOVE that polarizing filter!!

This is another one of my favorites.  I love the reflection of the clouds in the lake.

Abbie really wanted to touch the lake so I helped her lay down so she could touch the water.  The hard part was getting my pregnant butt back up.  And lucky for us, we had a full audience by the time she was done playing…  Nice.

My dad and I walked across that log on the left in the middle pictures and I got most of these steam pictures from on top of it or on the other side of it.  It was a lot of fun climbing around on this stuff.

We had a great time at the park.  I just feel so guilty that I’m experiencing this stuff without Mark because I know he’d absolutely love it and he’d love to watch Abbie experience this stuff too.  We’ll definitely have to come back here with our family so he can get the full Colorado experience.
